Start your accountancy career off on the right foot


Which ever route you take, you will be recognised as a key team player from day one. You will quickly be given responsibility and it won’t be long before you are out visiting and working with a wide range of clients from large corporations to small owner manager entrepreneurial businesses.

Bishop Fleming offer accountancy training opportunities in Worcester, Bath, Bristol, Exeter, Torquay, Plymouth and Truro, normally for graduate trainees and A level entrant trainees (or equivalent).  You can study for a range of accountancy qualifications including:

  • ICAEW Chartered Accountants ACA
  • ICAEW Certificate in Finance, Accounting & Business CFAB
  • Accounting Technician AAT
  • Taxation Technician ATT

We are very proud of our accredited training status  and use a range of accountancy training providers, depending on location and personal needs, resulting in personal training contracts. We will support you through your studies and provide relevant work experience to help you succeed through your qualification.


You can normally start your professional training at one of two levels:


You will have the opportunity to begin studying for the Chartered qualification – ACA.  Your training would normally take approximately three years to complete.

There is also the added opportunity to be considered for tax qualifications. Association of Tax Technician (ATT) or Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA).

Once qualified, there is plenty of opportunity within the firm to progress through our structured Career Track.

A level entry (or equivalent):

You can begin your accountancy training with a minimum of nine GCSEs and two A levels (or equivalent).

Our five year training programme offers full support to complete the Certificate in Finance, Accounting & Business (CFAB) before progressing on to complete the ACA qualification.

We may also offer the opportunity to study the Accounting or Taxation Technician qualifications (AAT or ATT) which will take two to three years.

Some will then progress on to the ACA Chartered Accountants qualification, others will develop in their role as a Qualified Technician.

We have found that qualified AAT trainees with relevant experience and graduate academic ability have been successful when following up with ACA training.

Your training

During your training, we’€™ll make sure that what you do here complements your course work at every stage and we’ll cover all of your expenses.

So what exactly will you be doing? Taking real responsibility early on, that’€™s what. We won’€™t see you so much as a trainee, but a key member of our team.

You can look forward to working with a diverse spread of clients. Everything from corporates across a range of sectors to charities and academies. That means you’€™ll be building your skills and knowledge in a range of areas ‘€“ and you won’€™t be pigeonholed into a specialism.

Our training programme is one of the best, and our pass rates reflect that. Looking ahead to the time you’ve achieved your CFAB/AAT/ATT or ACA/CTA, what then?

That’s very much down to you. Your career development and ongoing training is in your own hands, though you can expect full support every step of the way.

Let’s just say that you can progress quickly to Executive status and through our management structure as you build your own portfolio of clients.

We can also support further qualifications for those wishing to specialise such as:

  • Tax qualifications – CTA, STEP and VAT
  • Insolvency & Business Recovery CPI, JIEB
  • Corporate Finance
  • Other professions e.g. Payroll, HR, Marketing, Finance & IT

Your Contribution

So, do you enjoy working with numbers?

Are you an ambitious, outgoing and confident individual, with the appetite to be part of our successful team, working with a huge range of interesting clients?

Can you bring the drive, tenacity and enthusiasm to succeed, plus a full clean driving licence and ideally the use of a vehicle?

Graduates will have a  2:1 degree (or higher, any discipline) or AAT qualification.

School Leavers will have a minimum of 3 good A Levels or equivalent, ideally with one Maths or Business related subject.

You will be keen to gain the CFAB, AAT  or ATT qualification, and maybe go on to further specialise in Accounts, Audit, Tax or other specialist areas.
